Shelf
What I read, watch, play and listen to — and where I left off. The books, movies, series, games and podcasts you're into, kept in one place so picking one back up doesn't mean starting over.
The idea
Starting things is easy; coming back to them after a few weeks away is the hard part. You can't remember which episode you were on, or where the game left you, so the book stays closed. Shelf holds that for you. Every item you're in the middle of keeps its Where I was place — the page, the minute, the episode — right on its row.
It's also a record of what you've been into. A year of finished books, films, games and podcasts reads as a picture of who you are, not a pile of half-done things.
Adding something
Tap + Add to shelf and pick a kind:
| Kind | For | Creator field |
|---|---|---|
| Books | Anything you read | Author |
| Movies | Films | Director |
| Series | TV series | Creator |
| Games | Video games | Studio |
| Podcasts | A show, or a single episode of one | Host |
Only the title is required. The creator, a note and a label are optional. A title can appear once per kind per year, so Dune the book and Dune the movie can sit side by side.
Where each item stands
The page groups your shelf into five sections. The status names follow the kind — a book is Reading, a game is Playing — but the sections are the same for all:
| Section | Meaning | Quick action |
|---|---|---|
| In progress | What you're in the middle of, most recently touched first. | Finish |
| Up next | What you mean to get to, oldest first — a queue, not a backlog. | Start |
| Paused | Set aside for now, with your place kept. | Resume |
| Finished | Done this year, newest first, with the date you finished. | — |
| Dropped | Stopped on purpose. It stays part of the record. | — |
Pausing and dropping are ordinary states, never marked as failures. Click any title to open it and change anything, including its status; Delete lives inside that dialog.
Where I was
Each kind keeps your place in its own unit:
| Kind | Where I was | Shows as |
|---|---|---|
| Books | The page | Page 112 |
| Movies | The minute | Minute 64 |
| Series | The season and episode (either can be left empty) | Season 2, episode 4 |
| Games | A few words of your own | Stuck on the water temple |
| Podcasts | A few words of your own | 30 min in, the part about rockets |
Items in progress or paused show a Where I was line. Click it to update just your place, without opening the full editor — series also get a +1 episode button for the usual update after watching one. When an open item hasn't been touched in two weeks, its row quietly notes untouched since that date — a nudge back toward your place, not a warning.
Finished dates and the year tally
Marking something finished (or dropped) stamps today's date; you can change it in the editor. Once you've finished anything, a small tally at the top counts the year so far — books read, movies watched, series watched, games played, podcasts heard.
Labels
Labels are your own groupings — Comfort, Sci-fi, With friends — each with a colour. An item can carry one label, shown as a small pill beside its title.
- Pick a label in the item's editor. + New label makes one right there and picks it for the item.
- Edit labels lists your labels; click one to rename it, change its colour, or delete it. Deleting a label keeps its items — they just lose the label.
- You can have up to 11 labels per year, each name used once.
Filtering
The All · Books · Movies · Series · Games chips narrow the sections to one kind. Once you have labels, a second row of label pills narrows them to one label, and the two filters combine. Your choices are remembered on this device. The tally always counts the whole year.
A new year — carrying things over
Like every module, your shelf belongs to the working year, so a new year starts with an empty shelf. To bring along what you haven't finished, open Profile → Carry Over, choose the year to copy from and which items to bring (in progress, up next and paused are picked by default), and confirm.
- Items are copied, not moved — the earlier year keeps its shelf exactly as it was.
- Anything already on this year's shelf is skipped, so running it twice is safe.
- Your place, notes and start date come along with each item.
- Labels come along too: an item joins the label with the same name in this year, or the label is copied over. Past the 11-label limit, the item arrives without one.
Your dashboard
The Shelf card on your dashboard shows how many things you're in the middle of, the most recent one with its Where I was note, and what you've finished this year. Hide it from the dashboard's Personalize dialog, or turn the whole module off in Profile → Module Visibility.
